Privacy policy
Last updated: 31 October 2026.
Koinn is an iPhone app published by KairoApps. If you have questions about this policy, email koinn@kairoapps.app.
What Koinn collects
Koinn collects nothing. Koinn has no server, and you do not have a Koinn account. The publisher cannot see your accounts, records or anything else you enter in the app.
Where your data is stored
Your accounts, records, photos and documents are stored as files in Koinn’s own storage on your iPhone.
A backup is one file saved wherever you choose. The file is encrypted with AES-256 and protected by a six-digit passcode you choose. The publisher never has your passcode and cannot open a backup.
If you turn on automatic backup, Koinn saves your passcode and chosen folder in this iPhone’s keychain only. This lets Koinn save the next backup without asking you again. Turning off automatic backup or erasing all data removes both from the keychain.
If your iPhone backs up to iCloud or a computer, that backup includes Koinn’s files, under Apple’s terms and your settings.
When Koinn uses the network
Koinn uses the network only in these two cases, and only when you tap:
- A place on a record. When you add a place, Koinn sends your location to Apple Maps to get the place’s name. Apple’s policy: apple.com/legal/privacy.
- Update rates. Koinn requests today’s exchange rates from open.er-api.com (Exchange Rate API). The request includes your main currency but no information about you or your money. Like any app’s request, the request also includes the app’s name and version, and your iPhone’s system version and language. Their policy: exchangerate-api.com/privacy.
Like any server, Apple Maps and Exchange Rate API each see your iPhone’s network address while responding. Koinn sends neither service information that names you or any of your records.
Permissions
- Face ID: to unlock Koinn if you turn on the lock.
- Location: to add a place to a record when you choose to.
- Camera: to take a photo of a card or receipt. Koinn reads a card photo’s colours, then discards the photo. Receipt photos stay on your iPhone.
- Notifications: to show reminders scheduled by your iPhone based on what you enter. No notifications come from a server.
All permissions are optional. You can decline any permission and change your choice later in the Settings app.
No ads, no analytics, no tracking, no cookies
Koinn shows no ads and does not measure what you do. Koinn does not track you across apps or websites, contains no third-party software kit and sets no cookies. Koinn’s widgets read a summary stored on your iPhone.
Deleting your data
Settings › Data › Erase all data deletes your records and files, the summary used by widgets, and the automatic backup passcode and folder saved in your iPhone’s keychain. Deleting the app removes the app’s files but leaves the automatic backup passcode and folder in the keychain. Use Erase all data before deleting the app to remove those details too. Neither action deletes backups you saved separately. To delete a backup, remove the file from wherever you saved the backup. The publisher has no copy of your data and cannot delete any data for you.
Children
Koinn is not directed at children under 13. Koinn collects no data from anyone, of any age.

Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and describe the change in the app’s “What’s new”.
